Istook Live! from The Heritage Foundation is fat-free and blather-free: smart, conservative and civil. Ernest Istook shares unique and clear insights on life, the universe and everything, based on his unique career & experiences.|
Ernest Istook brings unequaled insights and clarity to radio thanks to his unique career pursuing the American Dream. After 25 years in public office, Ernest is "in recovery". And he means it.
He's your guide to reveal how you and your family could and will be impacted by government, media, culture and current events.
Ernest has seen all the political tricks from the inside and reveals them on-air-in plain, everyday English. Ernest started in broadcasting during college as a broadcaster, worked years as a reporter, and transitioned to a law practice focused on relating with juries of everyday people.
The ability to connect helped him win elections, including for Congress in 1992. A 14-year stint on the House Appropriations Committee was a perch that let him dig into little-known details about every corner of government. Ernest served on subcommittees handling national defense, homeland security, transportation, health care, education, the Environmental Protection Agency, and much more.
Those details never distract Ernest from the big pictureErnest knows the issues in-depth, explains them in everyday terms, and connects the dots so the big picture is always clear. As a distinguished fellow at The Heritage Foundation, Ernest keeps his finger on the pulse of everything in Washington, D.C., and across the country.
A few other things about Ernest:
- Ernest has a passion for music.
- He cherishes his Hungarian ancestry on his father's side.
- As the grandson of immigrants and the first college graduate in his family, Ernest believes in the American Dream. Big-time.
- Ernest's wit is an enigma to many. "Some people think I'm always serious," he says. "But my children think that I never am."
C.J. Wheeler adds vibrance from 20 years in radio and TV, producing talk radio in San Diego, Dallas, Kansas City and Little Rock. But when not in the studio, you'll find CJ taking pictures or taking care of her horses--or combining the two.
C.J. and Ernest often see eye-to-eye, but their disagreements are an entertaining clash of two sharp minds that give listeners some vivid thoughts about today's America.
